Self-testing at HOP Medical Centre allows you to get screened without a prior doctor consultation. (Suitable for individuals without symptoms, routine screening, and test of cure)

Here’s how self-testing works:
1. Book Online — Choose your package and select Self-Testing during registration. You may also call or WhatsApp us for an appointment.
2. Collect Your Sample — Visit our clinic and self-collect your sample privately.
3. Test Processing — Await your results while the samples are processed.
4. Doctor-Reviewed Results — Every result is reviewed by a doctor before being released to you.

Self-testing is NOT suitable for: individuals with symptoms (e.g. rashes, sores, fever, ulcers, discharge, painful urination, pelvic pain) — you will be advised to see a doctor first; and individuals who are unsure about exposure risk, symptoms, or testing window.

Self-testing is suitable for individuals without symptoms who want routine STD screening, those returning for a test of cure after completing treatment, and anyone who prefers a streamlined, consultation-free experience.

It is not suitable for individuals with active symptoms (e.g. discharge, sores, painful urination, rash, or pelvic pain) — these patients will be advised to see a doctor first, or if you are unsure about exposure risk, symptoms, or testing window.

We recommend seeing a doctor prior to testing. Please select ‘No’ under the self-test option and we will arrange for you to see a doctor prior to your test.

All six STD screening packages (A to F) are available for self testing.

Appointments are recommended to minimise waiting time – However, walk-ins are accepted at both our Orchard and Tampines clinics, subject to availability.

For walk in appointment, please note the following criteria:

1. You must be opting for Self-STD Testing (Suitable for individuals without symptoms, routine screening, and test of cure). Please select ‘Yes’ to self-testing during your online registration.

2. You are selecting Package C, C-express, D, D-express or E.

3. Walk in hours: Monday to Fridays between 8.30am to 4.00pm.

If you have symptoms, require medical advice, or are unsure which test is suitable for you, we recommend booking an appointment for a doctor consultation.

If you are opting for self-testing for all other packages, please make an appointment.

Yes, anonymous testing is available for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea (Packge C, C-Express) only.

Blood Test

• Stay hydrated
• Medication, as directed and prescribed by doctors, can be continued

Urine Test

• Do not pass urine for at least 2 hours before specimen collection.
• Collect first-catch urine (first portion of stream).
• No fasting required.

Swab Test (Ladies)

• Avoid douching and vaginal medications for 24 hours before testing where possible.
• Testing can usually be performed during menstruation.
• If experiencing heavy menstrual bleeding, consider returning after menstruation for optimal sample collection.

Your doctor will have a private, completely confidential conversation with you — no judgment, ever.

They’ll ask about your recent sexual activity so they can recommend the right tests for your situation.

This includes questions about the nature of recent sexual activity (vaginal, anal, oral), number of partners, condom use, any current symptoms, and prior STD diagnoses. All information is protected by doctor-patient confidentiality.

Most appointments take 15 to 30 minutes in total, including the doctor consultation and sample collection. Your doctor will advise you on results timeline for your specific panel.

Yes — express STD screening uses the same laboratory-grade PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) technology as standard testing. The only difference is the turnaround time, not the test itself.

Express results for Packages C and D are processed with priority handling, delivering results from as fast as 30 minutes without any compromise to accuracy or sensitivity. PCR-based tests for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea have sensitivity and specificity above 95%, whether processed as standard or express.
