MULTI-CANCER EARLY DETECTION (MCED)
SPOT-MAS 10 harnesses advanced genomics and AI to detect cancer at its earliest stages by identifying specific biomarkers in the bloodstream. This innovative screening solution enables earlier detection than traditional methods, potentially improving treatment outcomes.
The test requires just one blood draw during a routine healthcare visit. The sample is analyzed for circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) that may indicate cancer presence before symptoms appear, allowing for timely intervention that could save lives through early detection.

MULTI-CANCER EARLY DETECTION (MCED)
What is the SPOT-MAS test?
SPOT-MAS is a non-invasive, multi-cancer early detection test that analyzes circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in the blood. It utilizes next-generation sequencing (NGS) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to identify early signs of several common and aggressive cancers from a single blood sample.
Why is early cancer detection important?
Early detection of cancer significantly improves treatment outcomes. Many cancers detected at an early stage have a greater chance of successful treatment, while late-stage diagnoses often lead to poorer prognoses.
What cancers can SPOT-MAS detect?
The SPOT-MAS test is designed to detect early signs of 10 major cancer types that collectively account for approximately 70% of global cancer mortality:
- Lung cancer (including both small cell and non-small cell varieties)
- Breast cancer
- Colorectal cancer
- Stomach cancer
- Liver and biliary tract cancer
- Uterine cancer
- Esophageal cancer
- Ovarian cancer
- Pancreatic cancer
- Head and neck cancers
The SPOT-MAS test is appropriate for both men and women. It’s particularly valuable for detecting these cancers at early stages when treatment options are more effective and survival rates are significantly higher.
How is the SPOT-MAS test conducted ?
The test requires just one blood draw during your healthcare visit. The blood sample is then analyzed for ctDNA that may indicate the presence of cancer.
How accurate is the SPOT-MAS test?
The SPOT-MAS test demonstrates strong clinical accuracy backed by extensive studies involving over 11,000 participants:
- Sensitivity: 78.1% overall (65.2% for early stages, 88.3% for Stage IIIA)
- Specificity: 99.8% (extremely low false positive rate)
- Positive Predictive Value: 58.1% (higher in males at 81.0%)
- Negative Predictive Value: 99.9% (high confidence when results are negative)
- Tissue Origin Accuracy: 84.0% when cancer is detected
These metrics reflect the test’s reliability as a screening tool. Positive results require follow-up diagnostic procedures to confirm cancer presence.
Who should get the SPOT-MAS test?
The test is recommended for adults over the age of 40. It is particularly advised for individuals at higher risk for cancer due to factors such as:
- Heavy smoking (20 pack-year history)
- Heavy drinking (15 cans of beer per week for men, 8 for women)
- Hereditary risks (e.g., positive tests for genes like BRCA1, BRCA2, TP53)
- Liver diseases (e.g., Hepatitis B or C)
- Familial history of cancers
Is SPOT-MAS appropriate for younger individuals?
While the primary demographic is adults over 40, younger individuals with specific high-risk factors may also be eligible for testing.
What happens if the test detects a ctDNA (positive) signal?
If a ctDNA signal associated with tumor cells is detected, further testing such as imaging studies will be required to confirm the presence of cancer. Your doctor will guide you through the necessary next steps.
What if no ctDNA (negative) signal is detected?
If the test returns a negative result indicating no ctDNA signal, it suggests that cancer is not detected at that time. However, it is essential to continue regular screenings and consult with your doctor regarding any concerning symptoms.
ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS
How often should I get tested with SPOT-MAS?
It is recommended to have the SPOT-MAS test annually or as advised by your doctor, particularly if you have risk factors for cancer.
Can SPOT-MAS replaces existing cancer screening programs?
SPOT-MAS is a screening tool that can complement existing cancer screening programs. It is not a replacement and should be used alongside other recommended tests and screenings.
