Pap Smears in Singapore: What Every Woman Should Know (But No One Talks About)

Let’s talk about it — the Pap smear. It’s one of those things many of us know we should do, but often bump down the priority list. Whether it’s because of awkwardness, anxiety, or just being busy, this essential test sometimes gets overlooked.
At HOP Singapore, we believe that taking charge of your health shouldn’t be stressful or uncomfortable. That’s why we’re here to demystify the Pap smear — and make it something you feel confident (maybe even empowered?) to check off your list.
What Is a Pap Smear (Thin Prep)?
A Pap smear, or Thin Prep test, is a simple screening that checks for abnormal cells on your cervix — which can help detect early signs of cervical cancer.
It’s:
- Fast (under 10 minutes)
- Relatively painless
- Life-saving if done regularly
Why It’s Important in Singapore
Cervical cancer is one of the top 10 cancers affecting women in Singapore, yet it’s also one of the most preventable.
By screening regularly, you can catch cell changes before they become cancerous — and get treated early. That’s powerful.
We offer Pap smears at both of our comfortable, centrally located screening centres in Orchard and Tampines.
